【2026】Shimokitazawa Kakigori Guide

Here is a guide to kakigori (Japanese shaved ice) shops in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. In summer, several cafes and dedicated shops around the neighborhood serve their own take on this refreshing dessert, from natural-ice classics to fruit-topped versions. These are all places we've personally visited, listed in the order we tried them, not ranked.

○Amanoya Shimokitazawa
A natural-ice kakigori shop — the only one in Shimokitazawa using genuine natural ice.

○Oribe Shimokitazawa
Primarily a Japanese tableware shop, with a calm atmosphere and traditional-style kakigori.

○Shimokita Kajitsu
Run by a fruit shop, so the kakigori here is generously topped with seasonal fresh fruit.

○Koori-ya Kawakyu Shimokita-so
A kakigori stall open only in summer, known for its wide variety of original syrups.
Note: This is a seasonal stall — please check their social media for current opening status before visiting.

○Araki Hyoshitsu
Old-fashioned, festival-stall-style kakigori with classic flavors like strawberry and blue Hawaii.

○Shimokita Chaen Oyama
A Japanese tea specialty shop offering matcha kakigori. Note: the shop relocated in October 2021 and is now takeout-only, with no seating for eating in.

○K's Cafe
A cafe near Shimokitazawa Station's east exit, serving kakigori during the summer season. We haven't visited yet ourselves — we'll add photos once we do.

Note: menus and staff at these shops are primarily in Japanese, so a translation app can be helpful. Many kakigori shops are seasonal (summer only), so we recommend checking Google Maps or the shop's social media before visiting.
